World Car FREE Day

It’s World Car FREE Day on Thursday 22 September 2022, and you can catch the bus for FREE– all day!

Car Free Day is celebrated around the globe, with cities in every continent marking event by offering free public transport and
incentives to residents to make more sustainable transport choices. Northland has joined in the action since 2016 and this year
will be celebrating Car Free Day as a day to make positive changes for our environment and find other ways to get around in our community.

CityLink and BusLink are providing Free Bus Rides all day on Thursday 22 September 2022, so you can take part by simply leaving
the car at home. You could take the bus for free, get your steps up by walking, or improve your fitness and wellbeing by cycling.
Northland Regional Council Transport Project Officer Anita Child says regional council staff will be at Whangarei’s Vine Street car
park from 7.30-11.30am on the day, so come on down to grab some giveaways, see e-bike demos and chat to the team.

BusLink passengers can ask their driver, who will have giveaways on hand on the following services, the Far North Link; Mid
North Link; Hokianga Link; and the Bream Bay Link.

Let’s celebrate Car FREE Day together and leave the car at home on Thursday 22 September.
