Public Transport fares:
Adult $2, Child $1
Concessions (discounts) are available under the Community Connect Scheme. These concessions will make public transport cheaper for families with children and young people and people with a Community Services Card.
On CityLink services you MUST use a registered Bee Card to get the discounted fare. If you are paying with cash for your ticket on CityLink services, you are NOT eligible for the discount. If you or your tamariki have an existing Bee Card, you can use that one. If you don’t have a Bee Card, you can get one online Beecard website or at Rose Street bus station for $5.
Who can get the discount?
You or your children are eligible for a concession if you/they are:
- Infant 0-4 (No cost, no card)
- Child 5-12 (No cost, need a Bee Card)
- Teenager 13-18 (half price child fare, $0.50c, need a Bee Card)
- Young adult 19-24 (half price adult fare, $1, need a Bee Card)
How to apply the discount
If you or your tamariki are age 5-24 you will need a Bee Card to get the discounts on CityLink buses. If you have an existing Bee Card, you can use that one. You will need to register the Bee Card if you haven’t already done so, as this will provide your date of birth to the system and your concession will be loaded automatically. You can get a card, or register a card, online https://beecard.co.nz/Pages/GetACard .
When you have a registered Bee Card (either your new card or your existing card) you can then just tap on when boarding the bus to get the discount.
Cash fares are not eligible for the discount on CityLink services, you/your child must travel with a Bee Card.
If you look under 24 you may be asked for your ID as proof of age.
Conditions of Carriage apply.
